Our Beliefs

Mission Statement:

Share with all the Gospel of Christ through Faith, Hope and Love

What We Believe:

Sacraments:   commanded by God; promise of God attached; common elements used

  • We believe that Holy Communion is given to us to feed us and nurture us.  Because Jesus suffered, died and was raised from the dead for us and our salvation, we are forgiven of our sins and called to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ.
  • Holy Baptism is a gift from God in which we are named and claimed as children of God through the cleansing water; we are empowered with the Holy Spirit as the cross of Christ is marked on our forehead with oil; we are called to care for creation and each other as we live in God’s world and as we actively do God’s work with our hands and hearts and minds.

Additional Statements of Faith:

  • We believe in the Triune God:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who creates, redeems and sustains us.
  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by humans, in order that we might have a guide for Christian living.  We honor the Old Testament and the New Testament as God’s story which intersects in our own lives each day.
  • We believe that we are saved through faith by God’s grace.  As sinners, we cannot save ourselves but God, through Jesus Christ, has redeemed all who believe.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is fully human and fully divine.  Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a life of obedience to God, was crucified and died for our sins. He was raised from the dead, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
  • We believe that, as God’s church, we are called to God’s mission of spreading the good news of the gospel, feeding the hungry, caring for the poor, and being welcoming to our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.
